The elephant story
Did you know that in India, if you are gifted 7 elephants with their trunks up it means that you will have eternal happiness! Isn´t that a wonderful thought?
A dear friend told me …. and I was gifted the first one from her and now I have elephants everywhere in my house.. I MEAN EVERYWHERE!
Haha… you know how it is… once people find out you like something. She loves elephants, we can buy her elephants…
So, I get them for my birthday, Christmas, as a gift whenever people are on holidays, they see an elephant; Oh, we got to get one for Merete, she loves them..
And I really do LOVE ELEPHANTS, have done all my life!
I have always been so attracted to this powerful animal; it is something tremendously elegant within their clumsiness. How they with the outmost precision can pick up the smallest thing with their trunk and in the next moment fiercely protect their territory or young ones!
There is one specific elephant that has a very special place in my heart and she is called Elphis the ballerina elephant.
She used to belong to a lovely foster child that we were so fortunate to foster.
I will not give the away too much of the story, so this is a very short version to make you understand what “Elfis” means to us and that she is not just another elephant.
To be a foster home can be very challenging at times, you have the children on borrowed time and they may at one time have to move out again.
Being torn between families, however smooth the adults try to make the transition, it still is an awful experience for them.
“Elfis” was placed on our coach, arranged with her arms across her chest, being very angry with everything.
We had to make a promise:
“Elfis” had to sit like this until the day we could meet again, and the little ballerina elephant cannot have its arms unfolded until that day!
So, when I was searching for a logo, a symbol to use for my business it became so natural to use the elephant.
In addition to this special history, elephants represents to me how important it is to train our mental muscles, also called our mental faculties:
Perception, will, imagination, memory, reason and intuition.
Here is why:
We have a never-ending flow of information constantly going into our mind, both consciously and sub-consciously.
We are programmed to live by our five senses, our sensory factors:
Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.
They are like mental highways.
You can learn how to take control of these highways. To calm them down.
To be able to do that, we can start to train our mental muscles.
I was partly raised to use these higher faculties. But the confusion and inconsistency from childhood traumas, a troubled youth and bad self-image, I never consciously became aware of them. My biggest issue being not trusting myself, others, and playing everything safe.
I earlier chose to react to the response I got from the outside. I let other people control my life and my thoughts.
Generally becoming another brick in the wall!
It was only when I understood that I could change my perception, start to respond by consciously using my mind, that I finally mastered my life.
If you want to be in control of the results you get in life, you must live from the inside out, not from the outside in!.
